Parenting Expert gets a real life parent to review the Ergobaby Aura Wrap.
I love baby wearing, however, my previous experience with a wrap, over 5 years ago, didn’t go too well. I had borrowed one from a friend and tried it over the course of 2 weeks. I just couldn’t get on with it. I found the material was too stretchy. I would place my eldest daughter (a baby at the time) in the correct position but after 2-3km she would be sinking half way down my torso and I’d end up pretty much carrying her for the rest of the way or having to re-tie it. This is impossible when you’re out walking on your own. I soon handed back the borrowed wrap and bought an Ergobaby 360. I never looked back!
The Review
So, when Joanne from Mumii suggested I try the Ergobaby Aura Wrap I was keen to give it a go. I’m so pleased I did! Things have definitely come a long way over the last 5 years and Ergobaby seem to have nailed it! The Aura is just the right amount of ‘stretch’ but with great support.
Once baby is in place, I haven’t had to readjust it at all and that includes on a 4-5km dog walk. The Ergobaby Aura Wrap has been an absolute godsend especially during the first few weeks with a colicky baby. I have been able to wear my baby in the wrap around the house allowing me to get on with a few household jobs without having to put my baby down. It’s so handy for the school run too. I have been tying it in place before I get in car. Once we arrive at the school gates I can transfer my baby from the car seat into the wrap to walk my eldest into school. It’s also been perfect for the supermarket (so I don’t have to use the trolleys – great during a pandemic!).
It’s fantastic when out shopping. We all know how awkward it can be going into smaller boutiques and shops with steps and narrow aisles with a pushchair!
The verdict
So, would I recommend the Ergobaby Aura? Absolutely! The Aura has given me confidence in baby-wearing with a wrap and has enabled me to do so much more. Whether that’s accomplishing a few tasks at home with an unsettled newborn or out and about when a pram or pushchair is inconvenient.
