Parenting Expert‘s verdict:
8.5 / 10
My name is Jo, and I am part of the in-house Parenting Expert review team. I have been reviewing products for over ten years and pride myself on being completely honest! As a mum with three children, there seem to be crumbs absolutely everywhere, so this item could not have arrived at a better time for me. I have recently bought a new (to me) car and have been determined to keep it spick and span, so this could not have landed on my desk at a better time!

First Impressions
First impressions were that this is a very light unit and looks really smart and modern. It came nicely packaged, and I felt like I was opening a quality product. First impressions of the Gtech ProLite were very positive. I also loved the fact that this product was designed in Britain!
How easy is the GTech Pre Light To use?
This is perhaps the vacuum cleaner that all parents need—at least, that’s what I thought initially. I have now been using it regularly for about 4 weeks, so I have really put it through its paces to see whether it worked for a busy family!
It was really easy to put together—so simple that I didn’t really need the instructions. The first bag arrives already in situ, which means it is pretty much ready to go. There was minimal charge in it initially (which was to be expected), so the first thing I did was plug in the charger that comes with the ProLite.
Now the GTech ProLite claims to be one of the world’s lightest portable handheld vacuum cleaners, and at less than 1 kg, it certainly is the lightest I have ever used. This makes it perfect for anyone with mobility issues, and for a parent, it also means that little ones will have no problem using it to help with the chores. In fact, my 7-year-old loves using it, which is a bonus.
Battery Life
GTech claims it will maintain its charge for up to 30 minutes. Although I am sure that it will on occasion, I tend to use it at a higher power, so it only lasts for 15-20 minutes, which, in all honesty, is a little frustrating. I know that it is meant for picking up the odd crumb etc., but I also know that lots of people will use it for cleaning the car out, something that I really wanted it for. I did find this a little frustrating on a couple of occasions.
As previously stated, there are two power settings—I always use top power! I found this to be very efficient, and it certainly worked well. I found the crevice tool and dusting brush very useful for car cleaning. I have owned other handheld vacuum cleaners in the past and I can honestly say that this has the best sucking power out of any I have owned.
This GTech ProLite comes with triple-filtered bags, and I was a little concerned that these might be a little fiddly to fit. Well, I was wrong. They are really easy to remove and replace. They hold 0.5l (that’s a fair amount of dust and crumbs!) and are incredibly hygienic, as they have 3 layers to filter out the dust and debris.
Would we recommend the GTech ProLite to other people? The answer is a resounding yes!
