Halloween doesn’t have to be all about sweets and chocolate! If you are preparing for your Halloween party then we have some easy Halloween recipe ideas to impress your party guests!
Creamy Pumpkin Soup
Once you’ve carved out your pumpkin, you can make delicious soup to serve to your party guests.
Ingredients:
- 1 medium-sized pumpkin
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons butter or olive oil
- 4 cups vegetable or chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream or coconut milk (for a dairy-free version)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: toasted pumpkin seeds, chopped chives, sour cream
Instructions:
1. Scoop out your pumpkin, removing the seeds.
2. In a large pan, melt the butter or heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and sauté for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
3. Add the pumpkin to the pot and stir them with the onions and garlic. Pour in the vegetable or chicken broth, enough to cover the pumpkin.
4. Bring the mixture to a boil, pop on the lid then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer until the pumpkin is tender, about 20-25 minutes.
5. Use an hand blender or food processor to puree the soup until smooth and creamy. Be cautious when blending hot liquids.
6. Return the blended soup to the pan. Stir in the ground cinnamon and nutmeg. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Start with a little and adjust as needed.
7. Pour in the heavy cream or coconut milk, depending on your preference. Stir well to combine and heat through.
Ladle the creamy soup into bowls, serve with warm crusty bread and enjoy!
Spooky Cupcakes!
Get your creative juices flowing to decorate your spooky cupcakes using buttercream.
Ingredients:
- 125g self raising flour
- 125g caster sugar
- 1/4 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 125g unsalted butter, at room temperature – leave out overnight if possible
- 2 large organic eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1.5 tbs milk
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 170°C and line your bun tin with cupcake cases.
2. In a medium-sized bowl sieve your flower, caster sugar and bicarbonate of soda.
3. Add the butter, eggs and vanilla extract.
4. Mix on a low speed for about 30 seconds then turn the speed up for 1 minute.
5. Turn the speed back down and add the milk, mix for another 30 seconds,
6. Spoon the batter into the cupcake cases, filling each one about two-thirds full.
7. Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick or skewer inserted into the centre of a cupcake comes out clean.
8. Remove the cupcakes from the oven and let them cool in the bun tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Decorating
You can decorate your spooky cupcakes any way you like but we like to use buttercream.
Buttercream Ingredients:
- 150g unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 340g icing sugar, sieved
- 3 to 4tbs milk or cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Food colouring and spooky toppings
Instructions:
1. In a large bowl, beat the butter with a hand mixer or a stand mixer until creamy.
2. Gradually add the sieved icing sugar, one spoonful at a time, mixing well after each addition.
3. Add the vanilla extract and 1 tablespoon of milk/cream. Beat until smooth and creamy. If the buttercream is too thick, add more milk/cream a little at a time until you reach the desired consistency.
4. Once the cupcakes are completely cooled they are ready to decorate. If you are using more than 1 food colouring remember to separate your buttercream before adding the food colouring. Decorate them using a piping bag or simply spread the frosting on top with a butter knife and add your toppings.

Mummy Stuffed Peppers
Everyone will love these Mummy stuffed peppers which can be eaten hot or cold.
Ingredients:
- Baby red peppers
- Ready rolled puff pastry
- Cream cheese or fillings of your choice
- 1 egg
Instructions:
1. Chop the baby red peppers in half length ways and deseed.
2. Fill the red peppers with cream cheese or your chosen filling.
3. Cut the puff pastry into strips and wrap around the stuffed peppers.
4. Whisk the egg and brush to top of the pastry with the egg wash.
5. Bake in the oven according to the puff pasty instructions until golden.
6. Finish off by piping cream cheese eyes and add a dot of tomato ketchup for a spooky look.

Easy Spooky Biscuits
All the family will enjoy decorating these easy to make biscuits. Ideal for your little ones to get create!
Ingredients:
- 400g of plain flour
- 200g caster sugar
- 1 egg lightly beaten
- Ready made icing
Instructions:
1. In a large mixing bowl, use an electric whisk to cream the butter with the sugar until well mixed and just creamy in texture. Do not overwork, or the biscuits will spread during baking.
2. Beat in the egg until well combined. Add the flour and mix on a low speed until a dough forms. Gather the dough into a ball, wrap in cling film and chill for at least 1 hour.
3. Preheat the oven to 190°C, fan 170°C, gas 5. Put the dough on a lightly floured surface and knead briefly, then roll out to 3mm thick. Using your Halloween cookie cutters, cut to your desired shape. Using a palette knife, transfer the biscuits to a baking tray lined with baking parchment.
4. Bake for 12-14 minutes, depending on the size of your biscuits, until golden brown at the edges. Remove from the oven and transfer to a wire rack to cool.
5. Once fully cooled, decorate your spooky biscuits any way you like using icing.
