iCandy Peach 7 Review

December 16, 2024

iCandy is a pushchair brand synonymous with quality and is certainly a brand that a lot of parents-to-be will aspire to own. The Peach has been around since 2009 and we have been lucky enough to see all the models from the original to the Peach 7 which launched in Spring 2024. Believe it or not, there have been 11 colour options (so far!) for the Peach 7, including Pecan which is slightly different from the rest of the range. It has premium fabrics and a stand-out chassis. We have a feeling this won’t be the last of the additions to the Peach 7 range. There are few brands that can boast the development of a single pushchair that has stood the test of time and is still part of the range 15 years later.

However, it does come with what appears on the outside as a hefty price tag. We took a close look at the iCandy Peach 7 to see whether it really was worth spending your hard-earned cash on because we all know that having a baby can be expensive. We wanted to see whether the Peach 7 was ahead of it’s game in the world of luxury pushchairs.

The iCandy Peach 7 Review

We know the iCandy brand well, having working with them for over a decade. More recently we have reviewed the iCandy Peach 7 All-Terrain and the iCandy Orange 4. We have seen the Peach through all it’s transformations but now was the time to scrutinise it’s latest Peach – the Peach 7. We have the brand new Pecan in for review which launches today (16th December 2024).

First Impressions

In true iCandy style, the packaging for this pushchair is impressive. Everything is packed carefully and it never ceases to amaze us how they manage to get so many parts into one box! Jenga at it’s highest level. Our only niggle is that it is covered in plastic and bubble wrap – and we mean LOTS of it. Whilst this offers excellent protection, it is not perhaps the most environmentally packing option available.

The pushchair comes with full instructions and we recommend that you read these carefully before starting to build your pram. They are however, easy to follow and offer step-by-step instructions. It will take a while to put your pram together, we are not going to lie. We recommend that you unpack everything out of the box and take off all the plastic protective coverings. Lay all the parts on the floor and follow instructions carefully. The front wheels are already attached but you will need to put in place the rear wheels using the wheel pins provided.

Chassis

The chassis of the Peach 7 is certainly built to last and has a nice solid feel to it. We have the Pecan colourway in for review and this comes with a bronze chassis which is just beautiful. Colourwise, we can only describe it as bronze with a hint of rose gold. The chassis is powder-coated to protect it from scratches. As with all pushchairs, some scratches are inevitable so we would always recommend that you take care particularly when folding and unfolding the chassis.

The chassis is crafted from a robust 6000-series aluminium alloy, ensuring exceptional strength and durability, especially crucial for tackling various terrains. This high-quality material is highly resistant to corrosion, making the pushchair a long-lasting investment. As this pushchair can be used for siblings and is a luxury option, these are elements that we were exceptionally pleased to see.

Wheels and Tyres

Unlike most pushchairs which have black wheels, the Peach in Pecan comes with stand-out wheels. The rims and spokes match the chassis which is far more interesting than the usual black that we see on so many pushchairs. The tyres are PU and are not particularly chunky – they have a relatively slim profile. This adds to the overall sleek look of the pushchair and we like this. We were concerned about performance as they are slim and do not appear to have a lot of tread on them compared to other pushchairs at this end of the market. However, as you can see in our performance sections, our worries were in fact unfounded.

How to lock and unlock the iCandy Peach 7 wheels?

This is easy to do. On the front wheel mounting, just above the colour-coded spring, you will be able to locate a slider. Slide this in to lock and pull back to unlock. You do have to line this up though whereas most pushchair will now auto-lock into position whichever direction the wheel is positioned in. This is a little annoying, particularly if you are in a rush.

Suspension

We love that the iCandy Peach 7 Pecan comes with a colour co-ordinated suspension at the front on the exposed springs. Whilst it may not be an absolute necessity, this really adds to the aesthetics of this pushchair. The Peach has all-round suspension which is relatively hard – this is not a ‘bouncy pram’ but we found it to be excellent over both smooth and more bumpy terrain. The iCandy Peach 7 is not an all-terrain pushchair and we would describe it as a multi-terrain option. That said, it will cover most eventualities you will encounter in everyday family life. If you do need a proper all-terrain pushchair, take a look at the iCandy Peach All-Terrain here.

Handlebar

The iCandy Peach 7’s all-weather leatherette handlebar offers a comfortable and stylish look. It’s easily adjustable to suit parents of various heights, ensuring a comfortable push. At it’s lowest it is 53cm and it extends all the way up to 105cm. The innovative design, featuring a protective rubber pad, safeguards the handlebar from scratches when folded. This is, in our experience, an absolute must to protect the finish on your handlebar. For added convenience, discreet changing bag hooks are integrated into the handlebar. These are perfect for attaching the iCandy changing bag.

Basket

The iCandy Peach 7 boasts a spacious and durable basket, capable of carrying up to 10kg of shopping, whether you’re exploring urban streets or packing for a day at the park. Its sturdy base and drainage hole ensure it remains in pristine condition, even after muddy adventures. With a generous 44-litre capacity, this basket offers ample storage for all your essentials. We love that the Peach has a big basket, especially when you consider that for some people, this basket is going to have to carry all the essentials (plus shopping) for two children if you convert to a double.

Integrated Ride-On Board

This is absolutely genius and we think that all pushchair manufacturers should build this into their chassis! It’s a relatively simple idea, although we know engineering wise, it is not that easy to execute. Long gone are the days of having a poorly fitted toddler board that makes your pushchair hard to steer. Well done iCandy!

Carrycot

The iCandy Peach 7’s innovative design allows you to easily switch between the carrycot and seat unit on the same frame. While it may seem complex, the process is straightforward and only needs to be done once, unless you plan to have another child.

How to fit the iCandy All-Terrain carrycot fabrics

Setting up the carrycot is a straightforward process. Simply follow the clear instructions provided, paying close attention to threading the support guides into the frame. Once assembled, the sturdy base and supportive struts ensure a safe and comfortable environment for your baby. The soft, white liner and comfortable mattress provide a luxurious sleeping space, while the adjustable canopy offers protection from the elements. We love the iCandy Peach 7 carrycot – a lovely place for your newborn to snooze in. We love that this carrycot can be used for permanent overnight sleeping – it has been fully safety tested for this but we will talk about this later in the review.

Carrycot features

The iCandy Peach 7’s carrycot is designed with both comfort and practicality in mind. It has a raised base, with four little feet, that promotes airflow, keeping your baby cool and comfortable, while also protecting the carrycot from dirt and grime.

The interior of the carrycot is spacious and is lined with soft, breathable fabrics. This offers a luxurious and supportive sleeping environment. The mattress is of a high quality which was nice to see. The carrycot easily clicks onto the chassis and can be removed fairly easily.  We would have loved to see memory buttons featured here to make removal super simple!

The Peach 7 carrycot can be used for permanent overnight sleeping – it has been fully safety tested for this, a fact that we love! It’s also approved by The Lullaby Trust. We know that lots of people will use the Peach carrycot as their downstairs Moses basket. It also means that should you be lucky enough to go on holiday during those first 6 months, you won’t need to take a travel cot. While a carrycot stand would have been a convenient addition, the Peach 7’s carrycot is a fantastic choice for both daytime naps and nighttime sleep.

Carrycot Apron

The apron on the carrycot matched the outside of the whole carrycot. It is a lovely thick apron which is bound to help keep baby snug during those winer months. The inside is fully lined with a beautiful velour-type material which is very soft. Any kicking legs will certainly be well protected! The apron neatly zips on to the carrycot and forms the top of a beautiful looking space for your baby. There is a single zip on the apron and there are two press studs to secure it to the hood. There is the usual iCandy logo at the foot of the apron which reflects the colour of the chassis.

How to attach and remove the carrycot

The iCandy Peach 7’s carrycot is simple to attach and remove from the chassis. While the process is straightforward, memory buttons would have made it even easier and we would have liked to have seen these. However, the overall ease of use and the security of the attachment mechanism are as we would expect from iCandy!

Seat Unit

Once your baby outgrows the carrycot, you can easily switch to the seat unit. This tends to be around 6 months of age. This is a great advantage of the iCandy Peach 7, as it eliminates the need to store a bulky carrycot. The carrycot all folds flat. You only need to store the fabrics, baseboard, and mattress, making it much more space-efficient.

How to attach the seat fabrics on the iCandy Peach 7

Once you have removed the carrycot fabrics, simply zip the seat fabrics in place and slot in the canopy and bumper bar.

Seat

The iCandy Peach 7’s seat unit is designed to provide comfort and protection for your growing child. They have done a great job! The durable and stylish fabrics are easy to clean and resistant to wear and tear. However, the footrest is the same material as the rest of the seat unit and whilst this is wipe-clean, a more durable material could have been practical touch, but we appreciate that it wouldn’t have looked quite so nice!

The spacious seat with deep sides offers excellent support and protection, especially during colder months. An adjustable calf rest caters to children of different ages, ensuring optimal comfort at all points during your child’s development. The calf rest alters to 3 positions.

The back of the seat is the same material and colour as the rest of the seat which maintains the sophisticated look of the Peach.

Behind the seat is a VERY useful pouch that you can remove. This zips neatly on the back of the pushchair and we absolutely LOVE this element. It’s such a simple yet ingenious idea – all pushchairs should have these! The pouch has two pockets. There is a smaller one on the front which is useful to keep your phone and keys in. The main compartment, although not massive will easily house a spare nappy or two and some wipes. We envisage that lots of parents will use this as an easily accessible changing option when out and about and you need to use restaurant changing facilities for example. There is a useful handle which remains hidden when attached to the pushchair itself. Well done iCandy – we adore this feature.

How to attach and remove the seat unit

The seat unit seamlessly attaches to the chassis, mirroring the simplicity of the carrycot. While removing the seat is straightforward, memory buttons would have provided an added level of convenience.

Seat Recline

The iCandy Peach 7’s seat unit has a smooth and silent recline mechanism that is easily operated with one hand using the recline mechanism which is located in the middle, behind the canopy. It’s essential to keep your baby in a reclined position when transitioning from the carrycot to the seat unit. As they grow and become more nosey however, they will prefer the seat less reclined unless sleeping. The seat offers four recline positions, including a flatter option, ensuring optimal comfort and support for your child. We would describe this seat as a ‘bucket seat’ meaning that baby’s bottom will be lower than their knees. This is why the seat unit is not a from-birth option.

Harness

The iCandy Peach 7 features a well-padded harness that keeps your child secure, even on the most adventurous outings. It is a harness that is easy to adjust, making it simple to buckle up even the most wriggly toddlers.

The iCandy Peach 7’s 5-point harness is fully adjustable, ensuring a secure fit for your child, regardless of their clothing. An easy-slide harness and adjustable head support make it simple to buckle your little one in, even on the coldest or warmest days. We did find it a little stiff to operate initially but this soon loosened up. The buckle has the iCandy logo on it and while a magnetic buckle would have been a convenient addition, the durable buckle on the Peach 7 offers reliable performance.

Bumper Bar

The iCandy Peach 7’s gate-opening bumper bar offers easy access to your child, whether you’re right-handed or left-handed. Most pushchairs now have, or should have, a gate-opening and swivel bumper bar and we were pleased that iCandy have not compromised on this. The padded, leatherette-covered bumper bar provides comfort and style and is in the same finish as the handlebar. The bumper bar is compatible with both the carrycot and the seat unit.

Canopy (Carrycot or Seat Unit)

The iCandy Peach 7’s versatile canopy offers excellent sun protection with its SPF50+ rating. The extendable design and mesh ventilation panel ensure optimal airflow and comfort, regardless of the weather. During the winter months, your precious little one will be protected from the elements. Fully extended the canopy covers around 50% of your child. There are prams and pushchairs with far bigger canopies which offer more protection for your child.

We would have liked to have seen a larger canopy on the Peach 7 and you would certainly need a suitable sunshade during the summer months. iCandy do have a couple of options – a parasol and a ‘Screen’ but these would need to be purchased separately.

Rain cover

The Peach 7 comes with 1 raincover which will fit both the carrycot and the seat unit. It is easy to fit and does the job it needs to do! The canopy end is black and the rest is transparent. There are some holes for breathability on either side but don’t forget to remove your raincover if you are inside to prevent your baby or toddler from over-heating.

Elevators

The iCandy Peach 7 comes with elevators. The innovative elevators allow you to raise the carrycot making your baby closer too you. When used with the seat unit, the heightened position of the seat makes for feeding your toddler at the table. This feature is also useful in tandem mode, providing extra space and comfort for your children.

Car Seat Adapters

We love the fact that these are included as so many parents forget to purchase these! They are easy to slot on the chassis and then you will be able to attach your compatible Infant Carrier to your chassis. iCandy have their own car seat – the Cocoon – which many parents will pick. However, there are various other car seats which are safety tested with the Peach 7 – see here (ADD LINK)

Fold

The iCandy Peach 7 folds relatively easily, although the seat unit must be removed before folding. While this might be slightly less convenient than some other pushchairs (such as the iCandy Orange 4), it ensures a compact fold for storage.

How to fold the iCandy Peach 7

Folding the iCandy Peach 7 is a simple one-handed operation once you have removed with the carrycot or the seat unit. You can not fold with either of these elements in situ. Push the handle firmly forwards having depressed the button in the middle of the handlebar. Drop the handle to the floor. Use the carry strap to lift the chassis up when it will automatically fold and lock. You can self stand the chassis which is great. The carry handle is incredibly useful for transportation.

Once folded, the chassis stands independently, making storage convenient. For a more compact fold, the wheels can be easily removed.

How to unfold the iCandy Peach 7

Unfolding the iCandy Peach 7 is a simple process. We prefer to unfold from the self-standing position as this puts less pressure on your back and the chassis unfolds in a more fluid action. Press the grey button which you will find on the inside of the chassis. Gently pulling the chassis, the wheels will roll out and then all is left if to raise the handle into position. Add the carrycot or seat unit and you are ready to go!

Performance

We can not lie – the performance of the iCandy Peach 7 as an urban pushchair is absolutely great. It ticks boxes on all levels. It’s easy to push with a good turning circle. Manouvering in and out of the crowds will be a doddle. The kerb pop in single mode is good and the chunky handlebar makes it very comfortable to push.

The iCandy Peach performs well both in town and in the countryside. As we have mentioned, this is not an all-terrain BUT it will be great for what we would class as normal family life. The suspension on the Peach is good both at the back and at the front. Family days out whether in town or across the park will be a doddle.

The other thing to bear in mind with the iCandy Peach 7 is that you can make this pushchair into a pushchair for two – either by using the built-in ride-on board or adding another seat or carrycot. This additional longevity is a big plus point in our eyes.

On a practical level, the Peach outperforms a number of it’s rivals in the luxury sector. There are often some great bundle offers to be had and iCandy typically keeps it’s value. When your baby days are over and you come to sell, you should recoup some of your initial outlay.

Single to Double

The iCandy Peach 7 is a versatile pushchair that can accommodate growing families because not all parents stop at one child! By adding extra elements, it can be transformed into a tandem pushchair, resulting in a pushchair with longevity and versatility. It can be used with siblings or twins.

Warranty

The iCandy Peach 7 comes with a reassuring 5-year warranty resulting in excellent peace of mind for parents. This is longer than many of the other brands and should last you potentially through one or two children depending on the age gap. This extended warranty coverage is a standout feature in the market, offering protection even if the pushchair changes ownership. We love this fact!

Conclusion

We like the iCandy brand, and this year have been impressed with the new Orange 4 and Peach 7 All-Terrain. However, this did mean that the Peach 7 had to live up to these expectations. We wanted to see whether the Peach 7 really was needed in the iCandy family given that they also have two other single-to-tandem pushchairs in their range – the Orange and Peach All-Terrain. We are pleased to report that the Peach 7 impressed us! Parenting Expert have given the Peach 7 a resounding 9 out of 10 stars.

Our niggles were minor. There are no memory buttons to remove carrycot or seat unit; a magnetic harness would have been a nice-to-have and an indoor stand for the carrycot may have just tipped it up to making 10 stars! All-in-all, we have to be honest and say that we would certainly put the Peach 7 on our shortlist if we were having a baby and if it fitted into our budget! It’s not the cheapest option but it’s not the most expensive either!

 Pros

  • Materials and chassis beautifully finished
  • Carrycot suitable for permanent overnight sleep and approved by The Lullaby Trust
  • Large basket
  • Useful, removable pouch bag on back of seat unit
  • 5 year warranty that can be transferred to new owners should you sell

Cons

  • Front wheels do not auto-lock into position – you have to manually line them up
  • No memory buttons for removing carrycot or seat unit
  • Harness not magnetic
  • No carrycot stand available
