Parenting Expert’s verdict:
9 / 10
I am Leah and I am part of the in-house Parenting Expert review team. As a busy mother of two, I spend most of my time in the kitchen, whipping up meals for my picky eaters who often prefer junk food to the “healthy stuff” I serve them #mumlife. So I was thrilled to try out the Sabatier IP 5 Piece Knife Block Set and put this collection of knives to the test.
What’s in the box
1 x wooden storage block
1 x 9cm/3.5″ paring knife,
1 x 10cm/4″ utility knife
1 x 20cm/8″ carving knife
1 x 20cm/6″ cook’s knife
1 x 20cm/8″ bread knife
First Impressions
The Sabatier IP 5 Piece Knife Block Set is an excellent choice for family meal preparation, considering its price point. The set comes with a wooden block, and it provides all the necessary tools to slice vegetables, prepare salads, cut through different types of bread, and carve roast meats. Plus, the set’s appealing design makes it a great addition to any kitchen.
Review
Features of Stainless Steel Knives by Judge Judge’s stainless steel blades are easy to sharpen, allowing them to maintain their brand-new appearance and performance for years to come. However, ensure that you completely dry them before putting them back in the block to prevent rusting or discolouration. These knives are completely dishwasher safe, and the 25-year warranty from Judge provides added reassurance.
The lightweight design and ergonomic handles make them comfortable to use. With five different blades to choose from, you’ll be ready to tackle any task in the kitchen. I must admit that I have a favourite knife – the 4″ utility knife. It’s the perfect size for most tasks and incredibly versatile.
Priced at just £75, this knife set is on the more affordable side. While I have used higher quality knives before, these are well-suited for home cooking and offer great performance for the price.
Pros
- Good selection of everyday use knives
- Attractive oak wood storage block
- Lightweight
- Ergonomic grip
- Dishwasher safe
Cons
- Can discolour after washing if not dried properly
Would I recommend it to other parents?
Yes, absolutely! It’s perfect for day-to-day cooking. However, if they were in search of something more professional, I would advise considering some of Judge’s higher-end sets or individual knives instead.
