First impressions
Upon arrival at ‘Aunty Leah’s house’ my niece and nephew (5 & 3) were super excited to be greeted at the front door by my youngest son (7), with a massive activity box and a huge grin on his face. He had already had a little sneak peek at the goodies inside and was super excited to share the experience with his cousins. My niece and nephew are very into their crafts and can sit for hours sticking and glueing to their heart’s content so he knew this would be right up their street.
They all bound into the kitchen and wasted no time at all getting all the activity packs out and sharing them out amongst themselves. Now I must admit that I had hoped that this box might give me a few hours to get the lunch on and answer a few emails, but they did need a bit of adult assistance in following the instructions so if you get this box (and I highly recommend you do) it is worth earmarking the time to sit down with them so you can enjoy the experience together.
There are tons of great Halloween-themed tasks for the kids to do. My nephew Hendrix (3) and I made a spooky spider decoration which was a little fiddy for him at first but he soon got the hang of the small googly eyes and the pipe cleaners and we eventually finished with something that vaguely resembles a spider. It is worth bearing in mind though, that he is at the lower end of the age recommendations. The younger your child is, the more likely they are to need adult support. The activity was highly amusing to all involved and we spent most of it falling about laughing at one another’s dodgy attempts at the marble painting.
My niece Savannah created a spooky lantern and it was simple enough for her to complete most of it by herself which she loved. The best thing about this spooky lantern, according to her, is that “it makes really cool shadows on the wall.” So we all went into the downstairs loo (the darkest room in the daytime) to look at the spooky shadows on the wall. It kept her entertained for hours and has taken pride of place on her bedside table at home.
Josh, my youngest, chose the Terribly Tasty Spider Web Cupcake baking kit as he loves to bake. So with sleeves rolled up, pinny on, and standing on his kitchen stool, he set about following the instructions to make a (mess) masterpiece! Naturally, I needed to help him with the cooker. He did a great job mixing everything together and pouring it all out into the cases. While I did have my reservations about eating these spooky ‘ kid licked’ treats, they were really yummy and they were all gobbled up for pudding after Sunday lunch.
When everyone was suitably fed and entertained, we all bundled onto the sofa and I read them the cutest story about a super duper spooky spell that proved difficult to undo. They were all very engaged and Josh and Savannah took in turns to read sections of the book which was a homework tick on the list too.
Would I recommend it?
Yes, I would highly recommend the Little Monster’s Halloween Bumper Box. It’s a great way to keep children entertained and engaged during the Halloween season. With so many different activities to choose from, it’s sure to provide hours of fun and learning.
In addition to being a great way to beat boredom during half term, this Bumper Box could also be a fun activity for a Halloween party or gathering. Children can work together to complete the activities and showcase their creativity and imagination.
Overall, the Little Monster’s Halloween Bumper Box was a fantastic way to promote learning, creativity, and fun during the Halloween season.
