Mama Bamboo Nappies – A Soft and Sustainable Choice

As eco-conscious parents, we’re constantly on the lookout for products that are both kind to the planet and gentle on our little one’s delicate skin. Mama Bamboo nappies, made from sustainable bamboo viscose, promise just that. We put them to the test, comparing them to other eco-friendly nappy brands we’ve used, to see if they live up to the hype.

The Basics

RRP*

£9.99 per pack (from £7.39 when buying in bulk)

Suitability

First Impressions

Right out of the pack, Mama Bamboo nappies impressed with their luxuriously soft feel. We would go as far as saying that we haven’t felt a nappy this soft ever! The bamboo viscose material is a clear upgrade from traditional disposable nappies, and it felt instantly reassuring against our baby’s skin. Visually, they’re sleek and come in an lovely gender-neutral design.

Performance

  • Leak Protection

This was a key area for us. Overall, leak protection was excellent for light to moderate wetters. The plant-based liner and absorbent core effectively wicked away moisture, keeping baby comfortable for most nappy changes. However, during heavy wetting periods, you may need to change the nappy more often. Compared to other eco-nappies we’ve tried, leak protection was good.

  • Breathability

Here, Mama Bamboo really shines. The bamboo material is naturally breathable, which allows for good air circulation and helps to prevent nappy rash. This was a noticeable improvement compared to some other eco-nappies that can feel a bit more plasticky.

  • Fit

The nappies come true to size and offer a good overall fit. The adjustable tabs allowed for a snug and secure feel without being restrictive.

Eco-Friendliness

This is a major selling point for Mama Bamboo. Bamboo is a renewable resource that requires minimal water and no pesticides to grow, making it a more sustainable choice than traditional nappy materials. Additionally, the nappies are chlorine-free and free from harsh chemicals. However, it’s important to remember that disposable nappies, even eco-friendly ones, still generate waste. For parents seeking the ultimate eco-solution, cloth nappies might be a better option. However, you have to remember that you will need to use detergents, electricity etc. It is often a balance between doing all we can for the environment but also knowing the impact that our decisions have. Conclusion

Mama Bamboo are by far one of the softest nappies we have ever felt. You have to touch them to believe it!  These nappies are a great choice for parents who are looking for softness, breathability, and eco-friendliness. They offer good leak protection for most babies. Compared to other eco-nappies, they excel in comfort and breathability. Mama Bamboo Nappies offer the ultimate convenience for the eco-friendly parent who finds cloth nappies not the right fit for them and their lifestyle.

Parenting Expert awarded Mama Bamboo Nappies 9 out of 10 stars, and would highly recommend them to families looking for a convenient but eco-friendly nappy solution.
