First Impressions
The box arrived exactly when we were expecting it to and we LOVED the packaging. New parents would certainly feel special receiving this. It looked like it had been packed with care and attention, and the packaging was quite frankly stunning. We were keen to see whether the food lived up to the high expectations that these initial impressions had initiated.
There are two different bundles available, each with the option of flexitarian or vegan.
0-3 Month Bundle: Specifically designed for breastfeeding mothers, this bundle is all about gentle nutrition. It thoughtfully avoids spicy and gas-inducing foods that may cause discomfort in newborns. Each meal is carefully crafted to support both mother and baby’s well-being.
4+ Month Bundle: As dietary flexibility expands, this bundle introduces a wider range of flavours, incorporating pulses and carefully selected spices. This provides a more diverse and flavourful culinary experience while maintaining the nutritional integrity of each meal.
We had the 0-3 month bundle and the flexitarian option. On a personal level, the fact that it is all gluten free and diary free worked really well as one of the family has a gluten and dairy allergy. However, if you are neither gluten nor dairy free in your day-to-day life, you certainly wouldn’t notice!
Contents
The bundle included :-
1. 7 healthy frozen ready meals.
Each dish serves 2:

- ‘Healthy’ fish and chips
- Chicken tapenade
2. Snacks – 7 bites per pot

You do need to make sure that you have enough room in the freezer before ordering this as all the main meals arrive frozen so they do take up some space! The snacks however go in the fridge.
The Taste Test
Main Courses
All the main courses are cooked in the oven and all for the same amount of time. We loved this element as let’s face it, when you are perhaps sleep-deprived after welcoming a new baby into the world, simplicity is key. We enjoyed all the meals but naturally we preferred some more than others – this is of course down to natural taste and preferences. The Moussaka and Parmigiana were firm favourites – they were tasty, nutritious and just delicious! Our least favourite were the pasta dishes. We would also cook the chicken for slightly less time next time and use a thermometer to ensure it had met the right temperature as the thinner pieces were a little dry. However, would this put us off ordering again – absolutely not! These meals were delicious and far superior than anything you would be able to pick up in the supermarket. We loved the fact that these meals had been thoughtfully designed – all could be eaten with one hand (fork!). This is important as anyone who has ever tried eating whilst breast feeding will bear testament to!
The meals are all designed for two people, which is perfect for a couple. We are not convinced that two people with healthy appetites would be full though. As a nation however, we have got used to eating larger portions than we probably need, so perhaps this is actually a positive.
Prebiotic Breakfast Bars
These were delicious – very flavoursome and just the right size. To be completely honest, they were so nice that we could have eaten more but of course they are designed to be just the right size! They were a lovely texture – a little gooey though and they did stick together somewhat in the fridge!
Vegan Energy Pow Balls
If anyone has breast fed before, you will understand that there are times when you do ‘get the munchies’. It’s so easy to reach for high calorie crisps and chocolates. However, if you do need a sweet treat, these are perfect and we really enjoyed these.
Brownie Bites
These were AMAZING! There was a selection of different flavours and we loved them all. They made the perfect sweet-treat following dinner and we absolutely loved these. Some of the best Brownies we have tasted for quite some time.
Conclusion
The Pow Food New Parent Bundle will be a life-saver for some parents. We appreciate that it’s not a cheap option but it will save you a lot of time and provide you with nutritionally balanced and tasty meals. There is a lot to be said about ‘ease’ when you become a parent. We would highly recommend this as a fabulous Baby Shower Gift!
Star Rating
We awarded the Pow Food New Parent Bundle a rather tasty 9 out of 10 stars. Our biggest niggle was the pasta dishes and the fact that the pasta was so very soft. However, the overall flavour of the dishes couldn’t be faulted.
