I needed to see whether it was up to the challenge of keeping the carpets clean in my house – as well as a cat, there are also three children (and their friends to contend with). As a pretty outdoorsy family, it has always been a pet hate that the children seem to ignore the constant request to take their shoes off on the mat. 1 metre off the mat is OK, right?

First Impressions

Let me start by saying that the VAX Platinum SmartWash is a game-changer when it comes to cleaning carpets. As someone who has witnessed countless carpet cleaners in action, I can confidently say that this machine is in a league of its own.

Review

First and foremost, the pet-design feature of this carpet cleaner is simply brilliant. As a pet owner myself, I know firsthand how difficult it can be to remove pet hair and stains from carpets. But with the VAX Platinum SmartWash, those worries are a thing of the past. The powerful suction and rotating brush bar effortlessly remove even the most stubborn pet messes, leaving your carpets looking and smelling like new. 

But what really sets this carpet cleaner apart is its ease of use. The intuitive design makes it incredibly easy to manoeuvre around furniture and tight spaces, while the one-step cleaning solution and water tank system means there’s no need for messy measuring cups or complicated setup procedures. It comes with full instructions but they weren’t really needed – maybe that is because I have owned a VAX in the past but honestly. It’s not rocket-science and set-up does not take long!

Lets look at the results

When I first used the VAX Platinum SmartWash, I was blown away by how much dirt and grime it removed from my carpets. To be honest, it was absolutely disgusting! However the results were not – it was like I had just fitted brand new carpets! The colours were brighter, the fibres were softer, and the whole room just felt cleaner.

The VAX Platinum SmartWash has a new element that has been introduced with this model – a pre-treatment wand which is designed for those really tough-to-shift stains (imagine having cleared up dog / cat sick or worse). You simply fill the solution container up with a pre-treatment solution pet stain & odour remover. You simply squirt this on the area required and it really does work like magic! My cat kindly brought in a mouse and let’s just say that the VAX efficiently removes stains left by blood and guts!

But perhaps the most satisfying aspect of using the VAX Platinum SmartWash is the sense of accomplishment you feel when you see the results. There’s something deeply satisfying about watching a dirty, stained carpet transform into a clean, fresh one right before your eyes. It was thoroughly tested on a teenage boy’s room – a teenager who likes coffee but can not seem to carry a cup from A to B without spilling some!
