With the launch of the new Bugaboo Donkey 5, the question on everyone’s lips has been “what is different”?
Bugaboo is a sought after brand by many parents and parents-to-be. In fact a Bugaboo was the first pushchair that Jo, our founder, had with her first child almost 16 years ago – and she is the self-confessed pramaholic who set up Pushchair Expert!
Feb 2022 saw the launch of Bugaboo’s upgraded Donkey, the Bugaboo Donkey 5. If you know Bugaboo, you will know that the previous model was Bugaboo Donkey 3 so why no Donkey 4 we hear you ask! The simple answer to this is that according to Chinese culture, the number 4 is unlucky which has led Bugaboo to miss the number ‘4’ out of all their launches!
The burning question from Bugaboo fans throughout the UK, is ‘So what is new about the Bugaboo Donkey 5? How does the Bugaboo Donkey 5 compare to the Bugaboo Donkey 3?’
The Bugaboo Donkey is a side by side double pushchair which is perhaps not as wide as you think – it’s party piece is that it can magically (well it’s not really magic) transform into a single pushchair. The Donkey 5 has not lost these elements but it does have some exciting NEW features, never seen before on a Bugaboo Donkey.
New Features
The carrycot is now a breezy carrycot giving all year round temperature control. We love this feature and think that it is a great addition to the carrycot, and one that parents will love and use during the summer months.
There is an improved fold making folding the Bugaboo Donkey even easier then it as before. Bugaboo have updated the fold mechanism to reflect that of the Bugaboo Fox. It is quicker, easier and less likely to trap your fingers!
The seating position is now higher on the Bugaboo Donkey 5, 3cm to be precise – and for us, this is wonderful news. When in situ whether as a single, duo or twin set up), the seat unit, carrycot, side luggage basket and car seat will all now be higher than on previous Bugaboo Donkey models. This is an aspect that is beneficial for both the child and the parents, not only making eye contact and verbal communication easier but also lifting little one away from passing dogs!
Finally Bugaboo have included integrated accessory points on the Donkey 5 – no more adapters are required for your cup holder. In addition, the adapters for the Bugaboo Ride On board will now be built into the chassis – again making life easier for parents.
Another improvement on the Bugaboo Donkey 5 is the new quick click harness with even softer shoulder pads, making little one’s journeys even more comfortable than before.
7 New Colourways!
As you would probably come to expect with a new pushchair launch comes new colour, 7 in fact and a new graphite chassis – which we love!
